Wisconsin P&Y Whitetail

Paul Kitslaar killed this great buck with his Bear Arnarchy bow on October 29, 2012 in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. Here is his story from the field. Congrats Paul!

After watching this buck on my farm for the last several years I finally caught up with him on the morning of the 29th.  At about 8:00am, we were a little late getting to the stand. While I was knocking an arrow my cameraman Jason told me he heard a grunt and to get ready. As the massive bodied buck grunted while he cruised into range, I recognized him as a buck we called Dead Eye due to a gouged out right eye.  After a few tense moments and two stare downs he walked by at 18 yards and my shot was true.  We gave the buck some time and recovered him a short distance away. This buck was a true Wisconsin Cranker and tipped the scales at 215 pounds field dressed and grossed 145 5/8ths inches with a broken G3. The buck was aged at a minimum of 4.5 – 5.5 years old.  Talk about a quick hunt with instant action, we were so frustrated getting into the stand so late and things happened so fast.  We went from the Outhouse to the Penthouse after being in the stand for literally a minute.

I found 2 sheds off of this buck and have hundreds of Reconyx trail camera pictures been watching him for over three years. This buck has huge split brow tines on both sides. It was a very aggressive deer, we got tons of nighttime pictures but daytime sightings were very rare. What an awesome feeling to finally catch up with a buck I have been hunting for so many years!
