Unfortunately this buck was found dead in 2006, the green score on it was 197″. Looks like it is a basic 5 x 5 rack with some extra tines that total 17 scorable points in all.

Ok - so someone out there has to know the story, the REAL story, behind this photo. I’ve seen this photo float thru my inbox for sometime now, one saying it was the end of a lease, the other was a game farm .. who knows? If you know the low down on this pict give me a shout dan(at)kybowhunter.com .

The vocabulary of the wild turkey is versatile, but yet not that complicated to where, with a little practice, a turkey hunter can master the calls and strategically use them to lure that old gobbler in this spring.
As far as hunting goes, I will say that you don’t have to be an expert caller to tag a gobbler. I’ve made mistakes in the past and still managed to take a gobbler. Years ago at Land Between the Lakes in western Kentucky, I took a gobbler after my box call fell off the log I was setting by and made a terrible squawk.
I would much rather have woodsmanship over calling. If you hunt deer, squirrel and other creatures that inhabit the forest, you stand a pretty fair chance you’ll be successful at turkey hunting.
I’ll try and go over some calls and describe what effect they have in communicating to not only gobblers, but hens also.

This buck was taken during MO 2007 Rifle Season by hunter Jeff Wilson, reportedly scores around 215″ B&C!
This buck has great character - I really like that non-typical point that comes off the right side! Very neat buck!

This 20-point buck was taken on on opening day of the Illinois 2007 gun season - This non-typical buck was green scored at 243″ and sports a 24″ inside spread!
I like to add a couple of new calls to my turkey vest each spring - it gives me something new to play with and something new for those old gobblers to hear. So this year I called up Dad’s Custom Turkey Calls and put in an order for a new long box and one of his new super sounding glass calls.
I will try to upload some video / audio of the calls later.
First up is one of his classic Long Box Calls!
Next his new glass call! The gobblers are gonna love this!
I have changed the back-end of American-Hunter.com to add some additional features to the site and to make it more flexible.
Hope you like the new design and bear with me over the next few days as I work out a couple of minor kinks.
One great new feature is that you will now be able to register and comment on the different topics.
thx.

Just wanted to share some picts that my buddy Louis sent to me. Louis is a native Afrikaner who travels out to the bush country on a regular basis and on his last trip snapped a couple of neat picts.
This one of a white lion

A nice shot

On Nov. 3rd, 2007, hunter Eric Dobroski bagged this impressive keystone buck. With a total of 19 scorable points this buck has a green score 192″.

My buddy James Vee and his father traveled to Mexico to finish the last hunt to complete the Grand Slam.
