Ohio Youth Gun Season

youth deer season

I had a super weekend hunting with three kids during the Ohio youth gun season, two of my own and my cousins son. The youth season takes place over a weekend so each of them got one try from a different ground blind. The weather was comfortable for us but the deer didn’t seem to enjoy the warmer than normal temperatures, as we went 1 for 3.

My daughter shot a nice doe on Saturday afternoon. She made a great 90 yard shot across an alfalfa field. Guess that practice paid off afterall. She was so excited to harvest her first deer! I am so proud of her. Hunting with youngsters is very rewarding, please take the time to introduce a child to the great outdoors.

  1. I like the web site JT. It’s only going to get better as more people find it and send posts. We had 5 boys at my cabin this weekend and all saw deer but only one boy took a shot and he missed 4 times, once at 12 yards at a broadside deer. I’m told he was shaking quite a bit. Lots of fun hunting with kids. It makes a routine hunt exciting.
