Missouri Turkey Hunt

I just returned from a quick trip to scout and hunt a new lease out in Missouri. My hunting buddy Matt and I figured we’d head out and do some turkey hunting while scouting the farm for next fall. The opener was April 15th. The first morning we arrived a little later than planned. We did see 7-8 birds but they weren’t very vocal and didn’t respond to our calling.

After lunch we began checking out the 300 acres. The sheer volume of deer sign was staggering. I don’t know if I’ve ever been on a farm that has more deer than this place does. I found an awesome pinch point with multiple heavy trails, rubs and scrapes narrowing down to 40 yards wide area. We hung a Lone Wolf in a big cedar and pruned several shooting lanes. I can’t wait to climb into that stand this November! We set up another stand where a finger of timber stuck way out into a field and found a few other locations for climbers to give us some flexibility.
