My good friend Eddie Stevenson pulled out this monster mulie the last 5 minutes of our hunt. The kicker is that I passed and we filmed this buck 2 years ago. I am sure glad I didn’t shoot him then. As I said, I passed this buck up in 2005. He was a heavy 3×4 about 28” wide. I really don’t know what was wrong with me! Anyway, we found him on Monday, and Eddie was just never in position for a shot. The buck stopped in front of me at 75 yards broadside, but my tag was filled, and I was just along for support. All day on Tuesday, Eddie looked for the big buck, and with 5 minutes of daylight left, he found him and made a perfect shot at 300 yards with his .300 Remington Ultra Mag. It was a serious celebration…the deer hasn’t been scored yet, but he was 34 1/2” wide (I saw the tape) and super heavy.

Also on the trip, my buddy Pete Angle from American Rifleman magazine took this great 28” mulie. This deer looks to have the same genes as Eddie’s big buck to me. These were two great deer for sure.

I can’t wait to get back to Table Mountain Outfitters in Cheyenne WY for another shot at some of the other big bucks we saw on the trip…
