The Rocky warhead is a swing open style mechanical broadhead, with a unique replaceable blade cartridge. To replace the blades simply unscrew the head from the arrow, slide off the old cartridge and replace it with the new one. It’s about as simple as you can get when it comes to replacing blades on a mechanical head.

In the plywood head penetrated to the back of the blades before the head stopped. There was no damage. In the steel drum the head penetrated one side, but lost one blade completely and broke off a piece of another.  In the Orange the fully opened by the time it exited the back. I found the accuracy to be excellent. The head grouped and shot just like a field point, and the blade sharpness is outstanding. I have found Rocky Mountain broadheads to have some of the sharpest blades in the business and the Warheads are no exception. If you want a reliable mechanical head of moderate cutting diameter and quick easy blade changes this would be the one to get. The Warhead is also available in a fixed blade version. To switch from fixed to a mechanical head you need only to replace the blade cartridge. I am not sure how handy this feature would be to the average bowhunter, but it if you hunt in several states and some do not allow the use of mechanical heads it could prove valuable.

Please note as more test information becomes available, it will be updated and posted.  Make sure you check back periodically to see if the head you're curious about shows up on the measuring tape.  If you’re interested in donating a head for testing, email ckfitch3@aol.com or visit Huntingforums.com, Bows and Arrows forum and see 5shot.  Thank you and enjoy.  Return to the Main BroadHead Test Page.
