2010 ATA Show – My Favorite New Product

OK…here is my favorite new product I found at ATA in Columbus – The Carbon Express Covert XB-3.5 Crossbow. Some of you may remember that my 9 year old son Drew killed a really nice buck this year with a crossbow. It was an older, recurve that was about 30+ inches across the front. Well, my boys and I will have a new toy to mess with this spring and summer!

This thing is custom made for kids and adults.  Here is what Carbon Express says about it, and then I’ll tell you what I think about it…

The NEW Carbon Express® Covert XB-3.5 crossbow delivers premium performance with maximum speed and power for superior penetration. Like the Covert XB-3.3, the Covert XB-3.5 is the most compact bow in its power class. The Covert XB-3.5 is 3″ narrower tip-to-tip than the Covert XB-3.3 with a parallel limb design that results in less recoil. It’s ultra – narrow, machined riser and 200lb. quad, parallel-limb design gives the Covert XB-3.5 a full 15″ power stroke. The Covert XB-3.5 crossbow delivers maximum speed and power in an ultra-compact design.

The Covert XB-3.5 includes a quick detach Husky Pro quiver with Picatinny mounting system. The bow also boasts a Pro 5 Step – Deluxe lighted scope with red/green dual illumination for varying light conditions and includes 3 Surge 20″ crossbolts with practice points and rail lubricant.

OK – that’s all the good technical stuff. Now…here is what I love…it has a 2″ piece and a 1″ piece that are on the back of the stock where a recoil pad would be on a rifle. The crossbow fits me great like that. If you want to shorten the length of pull for a younger hunter, you can shorten it by 1″, 2″ or 3″, and that is huge to a dad…

We also went over and shot it at the range, and the thing was pinpoint accurate. The scope is set with yardage crosshairs, and they can be black, or illuminated red or green, and you can control brightness. The number of attachments was pretty impressive to. I am getting one! go check them out at www.cxcrossbows.com .

Hunt hard…Tim H.
