Since Kentucky implemented the one buck limit per season Kentucky’s Boone & Crockett entries has taken a big jump. So noticeable that this subject has been well covered in many major rags and newsletters over the past decade.

Part 1 will take a look at the Boone & Crockett Typical entries for Kentucky for the past 5 years, 2002-2007.

Seventy-two counties out of the 120 counties that are in KY have entered at least one entry in the last five years.

As you can see from the above map Lewis County is still a consistent producer, but the western part of the state, specifically the Western Coalfield Region is the highest producing region in Kentucky. Butler County has been the single highest producing county for typical entries over the past five years with a total of eight entries.

Below are the typicals entered for Butler County from 2002-2007.

Including all Kentucky Counties, Kentucky Deer Hunters have entered a total of 156 typical entries during this 5 year span with the biggest typical coming out of Pendelton County scoring an even 189″. Thirteen of the 156 entries score 180″ or better.

You can draw your own conclusions, but If I could, I would be hunting that Butler / Grayson County line in 2008
